Based on applicable tax laws, Redbubble will calculate, collect, and remit sales tax for orders shipped to customers in the following state(s): California, Washington, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Minnesota, New Jersey, South Carolina.

Marketplace Facilitator legislation is a set of laws that shift the sales tax collection and remittance obligations from a third party seller to the marketplace facilitator. As the marketplace facilitator, Redbubble will now be responsible to calculate, collect, and remit tax on sales sold by third-party sellers for transactions destined to states where Marketplace Facilitator and/or Marketplace collection legislation is enacted.

Marketplace Facilitator legislation is currently in effect in the following states: Minnesota, New Jersey, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Washington, and Pennsylvania

Why have I been charged tax?

Marketplace Facilitator legislation requires Redbubble to calculate, collect & remit sales taxes for orders shipped to customers in Washington, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Minnesota, New Jersey, and South Carolina.  These new provisions require online marketplaces to take responsibility for collecting sales tax on behalf of the 3rd party sellers for transactions destined to the above states.

What is the tax?

The tax is a sales-based transaction tax on online sales, similar to sales made from physical stores.

How do I pay my sales tax?

Check out with your items as usual. The full tax amount will be included in the purchase.

How is it calculated?

The tax rate applied to your order will be the combined state and local rates of the address where your order is delivered to or fulfilled from. It is calculated after the shipping address for your order is completed. For example, if you live in a state that does not impose a sales tax, you may still see tax calculated on your order if shipped to another state.
