There are a number of reasons why payouts can fail. Every 15th of the month, any earnings that meet or exceed the $20, €20, or £20 payment threshold will be paid out. For this reason, you should not update your payment option between the 15th and 20th of each month. There is a good chance that the payment will fail.
Before you reach out to our Artist Success team, please check the following common reasons why payments to your PayPal account can fail.
- Your PayPal email address is incorrect
- Your PayPal account is not verified on Redbubble
- Your PayPal account is restricted or limited
- Your payment has not yet been "claimed" from your PayPal account
Your PayPal email address is incorrect
Make sure you don't have a typo in your PayPal email address and that you have linked the correct account with Redbubble.
Also, check if you confirmed your email address on PayPal. You need to have a confirmed PayPal account in order to receive payments. To confirm your account, log in to PayPal and click "Let people start sending you money today."
Your PayPal account is not verified on Redbubble
Verifying your PayPal account is crucial in order to receive payments immediately. Make sure that you see “Deposit into my verified PayPal account” in your payment detail settings. Once you verify your account, we will automatically attempt to send the payment in the next billing cycle. Please, avoid editing your payment details between the 15th and 20th of the month.
Your PayPal account is restricted or limited
When we attempt to make a payment and your account is restricted, PayPal will reject the payment. To check if this is the case, please see the following step-by-step guide by PayPal: How do I remove limitations from my account. If this is the case, the initial payment attempt will have failed, on the 15th of the following month, a re-attempt will be made to process the payment, so long as you've removed the restrictions on your account, the payment should go through as normal the following payment cycle.
Your payment has not yet been "claimed" from your PayPal account
It may be that your account is set up so that you have to approve each transaction or it may be that you haven't completed the PayPal setup process. Please check if your PayPal account is fully set up and the payment isn't on hold in PayPal, waiting for your approval. In order to claim a payment on PayPal, do the following:
- Log in to PayPal.
- Go to Summary.
- Under ‘Pending’, next to the message showing the recipient ‘hasn’t accepted yet’, click Approve.
If you don't claim your PayPal payment within 30 days, it will be returned automatically by PayPal.
Once you checked all of the above and have updated your PayPal account accordingly, your payment will be sent with the next payment cycle. If you are still having issues receiving payment, please hit the button below to reach out to us!
